The Story of Classical Music

Beginning with the advent of Gregorian chant around the year 600 AD, THE STORY OF CLASSICAL MUSIC, an informative musical script and lively tour through the history of the genre narrated by conductor Marin Alsop, takes us from seventh-century European monastery copying rooms, where the first music was gathered musical script and written down, to the populist cadences of the eclectic 20th-century composer Aaron Copland. The major differences between the different forms of classical music discussed are illustrated with well-chosen extracts, as are the defining characteristics of the featured artists.
